Woodland Scene - Summer
Summer Panel of Woodland Scene:
The upper right panel depicts Summer outside the arch. The Maple Leaves are now a slightly deeper green than they were in the spring. The Male and Female Cardinals sit in the Beech Leaves. The Full Moon is high in the sky, and the Swallows are flying over the lake; hopefully, eating those pesky summer mosquitoes! A Loon is seen swimming in the foreground of the lake, which means this lake is still clean. When the loons stop coming to a lake, it is a sure sign that there is a problem with water quality. There are an abundance of wildflowers in Maine but I have chosen to show Lupines and Daylilies in this summer scene, with a Butterfly coming in for a closer look or taste of nectar. I have collected lupine seed and sprinkled it along the road to our camp and have planted lots of daylilies which have multiplied greatly! Inside the arch, a Doe and Fawn appear to survey the Woodland Scene below as they have approached the stream that becomes a small waterfall.
